My ancestry in the States goes WAAAAY back!

So I found out today that on my mother's side we have a relative that came to America in 1628! Makes it all that more funny that I happened to be born outside the country. =)

Might be interesting to start doing the family tree as my mother isn't interested in doing it and I don't expect my father to get around to it any time soon. Going to look at the open source apps first (GenealogyJ and GRAMPS) and then the commercial software (Family, Reunion, and MacFamilyTree).

Whitney has already started.

Whitney is working on it. When we were in Boise, for Father's Day, I gave her some info, as best I could remember to help things move along.

I will be glad to help both you and
Whitney develop your histories. Once we get the carpeting in etc., we will be able to start going through many of the boxes that our lives have been packed away in for years, and that will help. Until then the mysteries remain in the boxes.

One interesting insight for you from the Cannon side of the family, is that we are direct descendants from a know Revolutionary Soldier, so even as a Canadian you, Todd, and Scott, and any other Cannon children that come along actually qualify for memberships in the Sons and Daughters of the American Revolution. Really only of importance if you are a member of high society on the East Cost, still I could get you invited to a few snooty cocktail parties, if you were so inclined.

Have fun with it, but as my Dad used to say, "watch out for horsethieves and gamblers in your history, you never know what it might lead to!"
