Resistance mini-review

I beat Resistance: Fall of Man Sunday night when my laptop hard drive died (got that repaired and in the process of re-installing stuff). Game turned out to be pretty good. The gameplay is in a slightly odd place between an action-oriented FPS and one that requires more strategy. I would compare it to Half-Life in terms of FPS style. But where Half-Life had some extremely clever puzzles and scare-the-crap-out-of-you situations, Resistance doesn't have as many of either.

The game definitely has some replay as there are skill points (e.g., kill five enemies within 30 seconds) to collect to unlock extras. You also get more and more stuff (new weapons, harder difficulty) when you beat the game. Unfortunately the skill points list doesn't tell you what you need to do for them. Luckily the list can be found online.

The graphics are gorgeous. It really shows how far consoles have come since my Dreamcast. =)

I have not played the multiplayer yet as I was anxious to try God of War which is fantastic so far.
