For those of you not in the know, Monday is Canadian Thanksgiving. This means a holiday on Monday here in the North. With the halls being quieter than normal and a certain someone being out of town, I am playing activities director for myself during this extended weekend. So far, so good.
Yesterday I finished the rough draft of some notes that I had to scribe for my class. I actually managed to do the entire thing in LaTeX, including the diagrams! For those of you who know what LaTeX is are probably thinking I am insane for doing diagrams in the language, but hey, I had the time and it was a challenge. =)
Later "the guys" (the three guys in the building I will most likely stay in contact with when I leave Marine Dr.) ended up trickling in to hang out for the night. Ended up talking about everything from the Massad (Israeli secret service-type organization) to quantum mechanics to the messed up lives of some mathematicians. All the while we ate freshly backed Pillsbury cookies with ice cream and whipped cream and watched Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Needless to say it was a blast.
And then today was spent helping a friend of one of my roommates move. That brings us to now. I still need to proof-read the scribed notes before I send them off to my professor. Then I need to do some research on Karatsuba's algorithm for my homework and then type that and another problem up so that Monday can be spent trying to figure out the last two problems that I don't know what to do.
Oh, but I should mention the dream I had two nights ago. I dreamt of a map of the States that should state borders. What was odd was that New Hampshire was around where Nevada and New Mexico would be. The other thing was that the map had numbers about the amount of lumber exported by the state comparative to the amount imported and how much that made up their natural resources. It all felt like I was zooming in and out on a map from an issue of Wired in their Info Porn section. First time I can remember ever having such an abstract dream.
