We left Seattle on Monday midday. Short of a stop just over the border in Portland at BJ's for lunch, Meesh and I drove to Eugene straight (five hours). Stayed with my step-sister there. Walked around UofO, had dinner, dessert, and watched a crap film.
Next day after breakfast Meesh and I drove to Arcata in California (6 hours driving). Not much there but high gas prices. Scenery was nice, but I sure wouldn't want to go to Humboldt State.
After that we drove to Fort Bragg (4 hours). That took us from 101 to 1. That initial part of 1 is very windy! Fun drive, though. Just wish I was driving a performance car instead of my huge sedan.
There was nothing in Fort Bragg. People serve no meals in that town between 16:00 and 17:00, right when we were hungry. WiFi in the hotel was down. I actually ended up helping that tech guy try to diagnose the problem from my room. They never did get the 96% packet loss fixed.
Glass Beach was basically nice. It's a beach where a factory used to dump its glass. So now it just has a ton of small, smooth pieces of glass in the sand.
From Fort Bragg we drove to SF (6 hours). Stopped off at a roadside café in Elk. Otherwise it was a straight drive. Just south of Sebastapol I finally got cell phone reception for the first time in two days. And 1 south of Stinson State Beach is horrible. Got stuck by CalTrans repaving work for 15 minutes. Parts of the road are cracked and sagging to the point that I was afraid we would be the car that finally caused it to give way and fall out from underneath us. Not good.
Once in SF Meesh and I visited Jeff. Had Thai with him (the Thai place in Fort Bragg closed when we got there because the cook burned her hand). After that we went back to Jeff's and let Meesh work on some school stuff while we saw United 93. Very good movie, but obviously not a positive one. Also showed how messed up communication was between the FAA and the Armed Forces. Also played some Guitar Hero and Jeff's nice HDTV (1080p, baby!).
Friday I came to Debbie's and unloaded. Then went and had dinner with Debbie, her boyfriend, Mike, and Meesh at PF Chang's. After that Meesh and I went to D&B's. Didn't have a single DDR machine for Meesh. =( Had some knockoff that was kind of weird.
And now it is Saturday and I am home. =)
