Because your roommates do not want to go into a bathroom, first thing after waking up and needing to use the facilities, and find it plugged because you, for some random reason, think that letting it sit will cause it to loosen up enough to be flushable later.

in fact, leaving it there will just cause it to absorb water to the point where it's clogging the whole flushy hole. welcome to dorm life. at least you know who the culprit is...
