Yes, that is a blow-up globe entitled "Brown Globe".
I went to UBC's student art gallery yesterday after I dropped off my Ph.D. tuition scholarship/award/thing. It was a small show with eight total pieces. Seemed like each student got to have two pieces. One piece was a bunch of latex gloves blow up and tied together with string or from the ceiling. Another was photos/video of some guys playing golf. Rather odd stuff.
And I was asked to not take any photographs (after I snapped this one). That seems kind of lame to do for a student gallery, though. Since the university is public (just like all other universities in Canada) then some public money went into this, and thus you would think that letting a member of the public snap a picture would be within reasonable use.
