How to improve airport security

The new level of security at airports since 9/11 is a pain in the rear. Plus I doubt it is much safer. Bruce Schneier published an article for Wired a year ago that he recently re-referenced. You can read his last two paragraphs for his take, but basically reinforcing the cockpit door and better screening for bombs (both passengers and baggage) is all that is really needed. Profiling people doesn't do much since it is so inaccurate. If you just make sure people don't get on planes with dangerous stuff they can't really do much, especially if they can't get to the pilots.
