Back from my dad's

Went up Thursday night to visit my father to pick out my master degree gift and help set up their new mac mini.

The trip up Thursday night was fine except for the one one snag of I-5 S being closed off one exit north of where Meesh needed to drop me off. That took forever since apparently merging is difficult for some people in Washington. But Meesh got me to the 23:00 ferry. Got picked up and went to bed as soon as I got back and saw the new railings on the porch.

That night I realized how much I like my memory foam bed. I tossed constantly since I could feel my back not being in a nice, neutral position. Also woke up with a little neck pain.

Friday was spent on the mainland, or what is referred to as "America" by my dad and Richard. Had lunch by Pike St. Market. Went and picked out my masters degree gift; a Herman Miller office chair. Being tall can suck, and one of those ways is finding a chair that you fit in. Finally settled on the Celle. Picked up some deck furniture. Went to Fry's to look for a laser printer, scanner, cordless phones, and amplifier. Walked away with a laster printer, cordless phone, DVD player, and an end to my dad and Richard's liking of the store. Hit Best Buy where we got what we didn't get at Fry's along with a CD jukebox player. Had dinner at the Keg where the honey BBQ ribs were underwhelming.

Saturday was spent rearranging the office. Office space was moved to the front room which meant desks were moved about and computers were shifted around. Went through 80 pull ties trying to keep the cord mess picked up. Also realized how much I really want cord sleeving or gutters on desks.

Sunday was actually setting up the new computer equipment: mac mini, Epson inkjet printer, Samsung laser printer, Epson scanner, and a Western Digital external hard drive for backing up. After dinner at the Beachfire Grill with a great rib eye, I got dropped off at the ferry, Meesh picked me up, and we drove back home. Picked up some Krispy Kreme on the way (where everyone was shocked I ordered two dozen; that was a standing size order back in the Bay Area when we went to KK).

Today was a PSF board meeting that didn't really happen (didn't reach quorum until it was too late). Had our first lab meeting where there were a lot of new faces. I then came home and got a web server up and going. This means that drbrett.ca at least shows something now.

And my cell phone minutes have now reset which means I am on my new plan. Unlimited incoming minutes with 400 anytime minutes. Hopefully now I can get back into the groove of calling people.
