Well, I did it

I bought a pair of hockey skates. I went in to get a pair of workout pants, but I left with two pairs of workout pants (one for warm weather, one for cold), cargo pants, skates, blade covers, and a lace hook. Decided to make the plunge thanks to a friend who said if I had an inkling I should just go for it. I think now the only thing I need is a rag to wipe the ice off the blades with and maybe some bag to help me carry them to the rink and I am set.

Well, at least with equipment. I had them heat molded so they should be very comfortable to wear. But I still need to learn how to do cross-over turns and good stopping first. Plus my balancing could use some improvement. At least the balancing I have an excuse since it has always sucked.

Just so people know, I have not been laying out all the details of my life since I have been here in this blog. The gist is here (great happiness), but the nitty-gritty is being left out in order to not upset friends I have made here who do not want their lives discussed on the Net.

But I can say that today was a great day. When I got home from class I sat down in the living room and finished the first chapter to Freakanomics. The weather outside was gorgeous and a friend walked by the open door and commented how peaceful and reflective I seemed. Went outside and played some catch.

I was outside in gorgeous weather in a wonderful city at a great university with great friends. I am a happy boy.
