First, courses. My class is going fine. Just to clarify here since my father didn't know this, I only have three courses to take during my time here (assuming, of course, that my breadth proposal is accepted). I should get all three done this year, leaving my remaining time here to my dissertation and other research work.
Second, health. Two nights ago my allergies hit big time for about ten minutes. But nothing since. My right foot is bothering me. I think I tied my Pumas too tightly and when I walked most of downtown Vancouver and other random places in them the constant, pinpoint pressure from the knot on a specific spot pissed off a muscle. I guess I should ice (or heat; which is it for strained muscles?) it tonight.
Third, social life. Someone commented, once again, that I always seem to be going somewhere. I have managed to keep myself pretty well occupied with fun stuff. Several people here that I go out of my way to talk to and a ton of people I have passing conversations with. I have not been in front of the computer thanks to all the stuff I have been up to. I did have something that was causing me stress, but it has been resolved, albeit with an extended timeline that is going to drive me nuts while I wait, but it will infinitely be worth it in the end (and don't bother asking for details on this; only one outside party knows what this is about and it is staying that way).
Fourth, money. I got my SIN (Social Insurance Number; used by the Canadian government for keeping track of tax stuff) and my Canadian credit card the other day. I went and picked up my money from my Cal Poly fellowship today. Turns out they are distributing it to me in three payments (one per term; winter, spring, and summer). Don't know how much the taxes are going to be on the money so I can't spend all of it, but it is definitely nice to have. That and my salary should definitely lead to a positive cash flow.
Fifth, activities. I have my hockey skates, but I can't use them until my right foot is better. I have signed up for ballroom dancing and that should be fun (hopefully my foot will be fine by the time the first lesson comes about next week). I have not gotten into a workout groove yet, mostly thanks to the fact that I am still dealing with moving crap (have not dealt with my car yet). And I still need to go and buy a pair of snow blades for Whistler since if I don't make use of the skiing here I am going to go insane.
