How the phones situation will work

OK, first of all, I am not going to get a Verizon North America plan because that penalizes Canadian callers. The last thing I need to do is start out in a new country where everyone I meet has to call long distance to reach me.

Second, I am not going the VoIP route with a landline number. I might go with something that does computer-to-computer, but otherwise I just don't need to be shelling out the cash since it won't by me much with the situation I have laid out.

So, the solution I am going with, partially thanks to discussing things with Gabe and Jeff (and I think someone else, but I don't remember) is that I will have everyone contact me and I will call them back. So the burden of cost is on me by making sure I have enough Canada-to-US calls. So call me, SMS me, email me, IM me, something, and ask me to call you and I will. That way it just becomes minute usage for you and general + US minute usage for me. Might go full roaming in the US over the summer if I intern at Google in the US again next summer, but I will worry about that when the time comes.

Oh, UBC confirmed they got my transcripts from Cal Poly. That means my prerequisites for my acceptance have been met.

And this is for Andrew since he seems to be reading this suddenly: I don't know how you didn't know about Google or UBC. UBC has been a possibility since February and a definite since April and Google has been since May. Didn't you wonder why I was coming back to the Bay Area? Or why I was never on AIM for an entire summer? And congrats on the company; at least I know now you won't be bugging me if I know any VoIP programmers anymore. =)

So are we supposed to email your phone if we want a call, or what? ;)
