Bought a new camera

My mother has been a big proponent of me getting a new digital camera. Her thinking is that it will lead to me taking photos in Vancouver. I had decided a while ago that my big purchase thanks to my Google income would be an ultra-compact digital camera that I could carry around in my bag all the time.

Well, since I received my first paycheck I figured it was time to buy the camera. I had been wavering between the Canon SD500 and the Sony DSC-P200. Both are 7 MP and extremely small. The Canon, though, is about $100 more. After reading all the reviews, I went with the Sony. Reasons being better battery life, faster startup (one of my biggest complaints against my G2), manual focus and ISO setting, and the possibility for lenses.

Unfortunately this means I had to get a Memory Stick Pro. Since Memory Sticks are more expensive than SD cards the cost gap lessens to just over $50 between the cameras. There is also the issue of Memory Sticks not being used in as many places as SD cards. But with a Memory Stick-to-USB adapter that I can put on my keychain and the PS3 going to have a Memory Stick reader, it isn't too bad.

So I order the camera, 1 GB Memory Stick, and the USB adapter today.

I also bought gym stuff today. I now have a gym bag along with workout shorts and a shirt. What I still need to do is decide how I want to handle transporting shower stuff and deodorant. I could just take it all with me. The other option is to get a second deodorant stick for my bag and get little shampoo bottles to keep in my bag. I am leaning towards the latter to keep my life simple.

well... this is one of those times in which my 'bias' towards canon kicked in but if it was worth, i suppose it's the better deal...
