So my left wrist, after about three or so hours of solid typing began to ache and feel stiff. Anyone in computing knows that is a bad sign that your ergonomics suck and that you need to take a break.
So I breaked but it didn't feel much better. I then finished my work for the day with frequent breaks and it didn't feel too bad. That's what I get for pounding out 500 lines of C++ code plus tests in a day.
Wrist still aches today. I have put in a request to get an ergonomic evaluation but apparently everyone requests one so it might take a while; about a week or two. I mentioned that I tweaked my wrist so maybe I can get expedited. I also moved my keyboard to my lap in order to get a better angle on my wrists.
But the big plan is to just type slowly and to focus on form today. Not going to push this if I can help it. Since this is a first time deal I am not worried about having RSI yet. I am definitely going to lay off the computer usage at home until I get back from Boise and visiting my brother (going to actually leave the computer at home while I am in Boise to make sure I don't cheat).
So no need to panic yet, parents, since this is a first time thing. It isn't so bad that I want to scream in pain or wake up in the middle of the night from it like people who really have RSI. But I will go slow today in hopes that it is just a two day thing like most sprains.
Oh, and with this self-imposed computer ban at home I won't be posting here for the rest of the week. Just know work is still cool and it is nice to finally be coding. Or it was until it pissed my wrist off. =)
