After looking at the costs of cell phones for having no roaming charges when I enter the US, I have decided to forgo that nicety and just not use my cell phone when I am in the US. I will just change my cell phone message to let people know that I am in the US visiting so-and-so and to call me there to get a hold of me.
Doing it this way gives me much more freedom in terms of who I have as a cell phone provider, sort of. I now have two options; Rogers and Fido. Both meet my basic requirement of having Bluetooth cell phones that can sync with my PowerBook. Now I am just going to have to choose a plan that works the best for me.
The problem is that you do not get free nights or weekends automatically. But if you do the nights start at 19:00 instead of 21:00 as in the US.
I also need to make sure I get a ton of minutes to the US. So I will need to make sure to shell out the cash for minute plans for that.
Luckily it looks like I won't be taxed too horribly by the federal government. I just checked the Canadian tax rate for someone who earns under $33,000 and it is 16% federal with an additional 6% for British Columbia. I can definitely live with a tax rate of under 25% that includes healthcare.

You get the option of a sony ericsson AND the option to have the name of man's best friend tatooed on your cell...I'm jealous.
Their plans are...interesting. Not much competition in Canada?
